Roku has a deal with the Quibi to buy the rights to stream shows, star-studded, the failed, mobile-first subscription service for the short-form video, which collapsed less than one year after it was released. The Roku channel will stream the programming that’s its own app programmed with free, ad-supported video.
Deal’s Financial terms were not yet revealed. According to the report from earlier this week by the Wall Street Journal, Roku was in advanced talks so that it could take over the rights to Quibi’s library.
Roku stated that the programming of Quibi would be included in The Roku Channel in a few months. Notwithstanding the full range of titles, upto a dozen new programs will make a big appearance on The Roku Channel only.
The deal will drastically extend the crowd for Quibi’s programming. However, during its short life, Quibi never revealed its max number of subscribers; in July, it said that the app was downloaded more than 5.6 million times, numerous during an all-inclusive free trial after it was released. Though, as a streaming platform, Roku has upto 50 million active accounts. Also, Roku estimated in the last three months of the year that households representing 61.8 million people watched The Roku Channel.
